Stage Four — The Evidence

Evidence of Enterprise Building in Action.

We believe the measure of Enterprise Building is not simply how much support an enterprise receives, but what becomes stronger because of it.

Across our work with founders and institutional partners, we look for evidence of progression in people, business performance and accumulated enterprise value.

Enterprise Building in Action

Turning Enterprise Potential Into Progression

Enterprise Building is measured by more than participation.

It is measured by what becomes stronger in the enterprise.

Across our work, we look for measurable progression in people, business performance and accumulated enterprise value — from stronger leadership and enterprise capability to commercial growth, stronger systems, market position and long-term value creation.

Our evidence reflects the enterprises that have progressed, the institutional partners that have invested alongside us, and the measurable outcomes created through that work.

The work of Enterprise Building is to convert entrepreneurial potential into measurable enterprise progression.

We work alongside founders to strengthen what must become stronger within the enterprise — its commercial model, capabilities, systems, people, operations and ability to execute — while working with institutional partners to ensure developmental investment is directed towards meaningful enterprise outcomes.

Progression is reflected in what changes across:

People

Stronger leadership, capability and organisational capacity.

Business Performance

Stronger commercial models, customers, revenue, operations and execution.

Accumulated Value

Stronger systems, assets, relationships, intellectual property, market position and organisational strength.

The objective is not simply to support potential, but to progressively build stronger and more valuable enterprises.

Enterprise Stories

Real Enterprises. Measurable Progression.

Every enterprise starts from a different place, faces different constraints and is being built towards a different future.

Our Enterprise Stories show Enterprise Building in practice — what needed to be built, what changed, and the evidence of progression created through the journey.

Across each story, we look beyond programme participation to evidence of progression in people, business performance and accumulated enterprise value.

Reogopotse

The Enterprise

A wholesale fuel licence holder supplying 500 litres of diesel a week, using a bowser and the founder’s own car for deliveries.

The Build Priority

A defined market need, a clear core offering and value proposition, a strategic plan and the ability to pitch for contracts at scale.

The Progression

An 18-month intensive programme moved the business from ad-hoc supply to contracted volume, with the tools to manage cash flow through client non-payment.

The Evidence

First 40,000-litre contract secured by April 2021, followed by further contracts with local mines — now supplying 280,000 litres a week.

A wellness business heavily dependent on its founder, with limited independence and a narrow view of the opportunities available to it.

The Build Priority

A team and operating structure capable of running the business, and the confidence to work with intention against an agreed growth strategy.

The Progression

The founder moved from doing everything personally to building and leading a team, with accountability against a growth strategy.

The Evidence

Progressed from no staff to five people across part-time, full-time and consulting roles, attracted new clients and doubled revenue.

The accreditation, governance and organisational capability required to compete with larger firms in the mining industry.

The Progression

Long-term stewardship through the progression from startup to an established, credentialled enterprise — with the founder studying project, business and people management.

The Evidence

Contracts secured in the mining sector, backed by ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 accreditation and deep cleaning accreditation.

Enterprise Outcomes

Measuring What Matters

Enterprise Building is about measurable progression — enterprise growth, capability development, ecosystem collaboration, investment readiness and long-term value creation.

Building Africa’s Enterprise Future

Building Enterprises. Strengthening Economies.

Africa’s enterprise future will not be built by entrepreneurs, institutions, markets or capital acting alone.

It will be built by bringing these forces together more intentionally around the work of building stronger, commercially viable, sustainable, scalable, investable and valuable African enterprises.

For Colab4Growth, the ambition extends beyond individual programmes or enterprises.

We are working towards a future where developmental investment translates into measurable enterprise progression, ambitious founders have access to the capabilities, markets and capital required to grow, and more African enterprises are intentionally built to create lasting economic value.

This is the future Enterprise Building is designed to enable.
